Transfer talk: Real Madrid’s fantasy team build, Dier lands in Munich, Gallagher to cross London

January 11 – Real Madrid are reportedly assessing the prospect of making a move for Manchester City and Norway striker Erling Haaland, 23, because of concerns over whether France forward Kylian Mbappe, 25, will leave Paris St-Germain to join them.

Haaland, whose contract has a €200 million release clause active in the summer, would not come cheap – Manchester City are under no pressure to sell, the player is happy in Manchester and his current deal doesn’t expire until 2027.

Los Blancos’ desire to unite the Norwegian and Frenchman in a joint strike force is no secret, but the La Liga frontrunners may finally lose patience with Mbappe if a new deal is penned in the French capital.

Chelsea academy graduate Conor Gallagher has been linked with a move to London rivals Spurs as the Blues look to clean out the squad to make way for an influx of summer signings. With financial fair regulators breathing down their necks, 23-year-old England international Gallagher could be the first major January sale for the club despite his importance in the side’s opening to the season.

With Spurs’ midfield depth already exposed due to the absence of AFCON-bound Bissouma and Sarr alongside the perennially injured Rodrigo Bentancur, a move for €42 million-rated Gallagher makes a lot of sense.

29-year-old Spurs and England defender Eric Dier has touched down in Germany ahead of his move to FC Bayern Munich after the Bavarians missed out on their top target- Spurs-bound Radu Dragusin.

Arsenal have had a £22 million bid for Getafe and Spain striker Borja Mayoral, 26, rejected by the Spanish club as they hold out for a bid in the region of £35 million. The Spaniard is second in La Liga’s golden boot race with 12 goals in 19 games.

Ajax winger Steven Bergwijn has picked up keen admirers in West Ham, as the club look to further bolster their attacking line. Having acquired Ghanaian forward Mohammed Kudus from the Dutch club in the summer, who has impressed in East London, the club could return to the Dutch market. 26-year-old Bergwijn has scored nine goals and notched two assists in 13 Eredivisie games this term – a rare shining light in Ajax’s limping opening to the season.

Ronald Araujo insists he’s focused on FC Barcelona despite reports linking the 24-year-old Uruguay international to long-term admirers FC Bayern.

Wolves have made a move for 27-year-old Scotland striker Che Adams, whose contract at Southampton runs out in the summer. With South Korean striker Hwang Hee Chan’s stellar performances attracting interest from bigger clubs, Wolves could look to cash in on the player in the summer and sign a direct replacement in Adams.

During his time in the Premier League, Adams scored 25 goals across 124 appearances for Southampton.
