Italian Supercoppa set for Saudi kick-off with Puma on hand to get the ball rolling

January 17 – With Saudi Arabia set to host Italy’s Supercoppa for the fourth time, Puma have unveiled a dedicated match ball designed specifically for 2024 edition.

Saudi Arabia made its initial foray into Italian football in 2018, committing to host three Italian Super Cups from 2018 to 2023.

Following the expiration of that agreement in March 2023, a renewed collaboration between Italian football and the government of Saudi Arabia was established that would see Saudi Arabia host the Italian Super Cup in 2024, 2025, 2028 and 2029 with the hosts for the 2026 and 2027 editions of the tournament to be announced in due course.

This extended deal includes expanding the final to a four-team format (similar to the Spanish Super Cup just completed in Saudi).  This year will see Inter Milan, Lazio, Napoli and Fiorentina on show at Al Awwal Park in Riyadh.

Ahead of the tournament’s kick off on January 18, Puma and Serie A have released designs of the official ball to be used in Riyadh – marking the first dedicated ball in the competition’s 35-year history. Distinguished by its gold colour, the special-edition Puma Orbita ball will be available in both FIFA Quality PRO and Hybrid versions for fans to buy.

It will make its debut tomorrow (January 18) at Al-Awwal Park as Napoli face Fiorentina in the first of two semi-finals. It will be back on the pitch for the final on January 22.
