Chung going again as AFC announces candidates for executive committee elections

January 19 – The Asian Football Confederation has announced the candidates for election to two executive committee posts that will be appointed at the confederation’s 34th Annual Congress in May in Bangkok, Thailand.

Mijgona Mahmadalieva (Tajikistan) and Hurma Kuliyeva (Turkmenistan) have both been nominated for the post of Female Executive Committee Member (Central Zone).
Mong Gyu Chung (Korea Republic) is the only nominee for the post of Executive Committee Member (East Zone).

President of the Korean FA, Chung (pictured) is no stranger to AFC corridors of power, having AFC East Zone Vice-President following the resignation of China’s Zhang Jilong in 2016. He was already a member of the AFC’s executive committee. He has been president of the KFA since 2013.

The AFC said the nominated candidates will now go through an AFC Electoral Committee eligibility with the final list of election candidates being announced 30 days before the congress.
