Skoda plugs-in to women’s game and Chelsea

January 22 – Skoda have announced a partnership with Chelsea FC Women which will see the auto brand become Official Car Partner of the six-time Barclays WSL champions.

As part of the deal, Skoda will benefit from pitch-side advertising and digital content, with the Czech car maker supplying all-electric SUV and Coupé cars to support players and staff of both the Women’s Team and Women’s Academy.

The partnership represents Skoda’s first venture into women’s football.

Zarah Al-Kudcy, Chelsea Women’s commercial director said: “Škoda has shown a passion and knowledge for our women’s team since we first met them. They perfectly align to the values of our team, and I look forward to seeing the partnership come to life as we both continue to push the boundaries of our brands.”

The sponsorship debuted for Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Manchester United, as Lauren James notched a hattrick to keep her side top of the table with Manchester City in hot pursuit.

Kirsten Stagg, Head of Marketing, Škoda UK said: “From trailblazing coaches and exceptional players, to the charitable work of the Chelsea Foundation and the exciting attacking game which keeps fans on the edge of their seats – this is a club that embraces possibilities and pushes boundaries…

“Like the rest of the nation, I have been personally inspired by the development of women’s football over the past couple of years and I’m excited that Škoda will be able to play its part in further growing the platform with Chelsea Women and encouraging more people to explore what’s possible with their lives.”

Chelsea’s next match sees them host Real Madrid in Group D of the UWCL, who go into the match off the back of a 4-0 thrashing from arch-rivals FC Barcelona. A win would further cement the blues’ place at the top of the group.
