SIGA Summit on Female Leadership partners with EPIC to focus on betting integrity

January 24 – With the 2024 SIGA Summit on Female Leadership in Sport in New York now only six weeks away, SIGA has announced EPIC Global Solutions (EPIC) as a session partner.

EPIC will partner with SIGA in a panel focused on Sports Betting Integrity. The panel will showcase women leading the way within one of the biggest issues facing sport, as well as addressing the challenges women’s sport faces in betting related match manipulation.

Katie Simmonds, SIGA’s Global COO and Managing Director of SIGAWomen, echoed the importance of the debate and highlighting the issues

“,,, often women’s sport is left behind in the conversations. This panel will showcase the women leading the charge in this field in the US in both men and women’s sport, as well as address the threats sports betting poses on the women’s game and the solutions.”

EPIC works with a number of major sports leagues and governing bodies to educate and consult on reducing the risks associated with all forms of betting. The NCAA, MLB, NFLPA PAF and MLSPA are among their major clients in the US, while they also work with the EFL, Premiership Rugby, RFU, RPA and PCA outside the US.

The Summit on Female Leadership in Sport will be hosted by Mastercard on March 6 and is a key component of the SIGAWomen Programme that aims to close the gender gap in sports organisations globally.

Martin Bland, director of business development at EPIC Global Solutions and a member of SIGA’s Sports Betting Integrity Committee, said: “The issue of gambling within women’s sport remains under-discussed compared to men’s competitions, but we hope to take this opportunity to show that it’s an issue that doesn’t discriminate by gender and that there are solutions and support available to try and negate the issue among female athletes and professionals in elite sport.”
