UEFA and Adidas get Champions League final ball rolling

February 12 – UEFA and Adidas have unveiled the design for the 2023/24 Champions League final match ball.

The colourful design, which looks to be inspired by London-based host Wembley stadium, features two lions fighting for the UEFA Champions League emblem. The familiar and classic star pattern is also returning for the 25th consecutive Champions League final.

It’s bold colour scheme allows for a refreshing change from last season’s match ball – a bland white design that signified no ounce of special occasion.

Aligning with all of Adidas’s top-level (and most expensive) match balls, the latest addition to the Adidas ball roster features a range of adidas performance technology including the PRISMA surface texture, which aims to offer players more precision on the ball.

The Road to London continues tomorrow, February13, with the start of the round of 16. Amongst a roster of predictable affairs, treble-winning Manchester City will travel to Copenhagen whilst 14-time champions Real Madrid take on RB Leipzig in Germany. Copenhagen’s victory over the Cityzens’ Manchester neighbours in the group stages has shown they are to be taken seriously, but it will take a minor miracle to stop City’s rampant run of form.

The 2024 UEFA Champions League final takes place on June 1 in London at Wembley Stadium.
