April 11 – FC Barcelona’s 16-year-old talent Lamine Yamal (pictured) has seen his market value increase by €134 million according to the latest CIES Football Observatory report, with the youngster continuing to impress and break records on a seemingly weekly basis.
The study looks at the change in transfer value for 100 U23 players from October to the start of April.
The young Spaniard featured in Barca’s away victory over Paris Saint Germain in the UEFA Champions League quarter finals on Wednesday night.
With an overall value standing at €145 million, he has rapidly become one of the most lucrative assets in La Liga.
Beside Yamal on the podium sit Benfica’s Joao Neves (+€72 million) and Girona’s Brazilian starlet Savio Moreira (+€70 million).
The trio are closely followed by Chelsea’s English frontman Cole Palmer (+€70 million), who also stands as the Premier League player with the biggest value-jump.
Rounding out the top five is 18-year-old Dutchman Jorrel Hato (+63 million), who has been a rare bright spark for a struggling Ajax team this term, attracting interest from other top European clubs in the process.
Other promising youngsters in the top positions include Brazil and future Real Madrid star Endrick Felipe (sixth), as well as Man City speedster Jeremy Doku (seventh).
Players from 12 leagues and 55 clubs feature in the top 100 rankings.
There are 29 footballers from the English Premier League in the ranking, followed by the Spanish Liga (17), the German Bundesliga (14) and the French Ligue 1 (11).
Brighton & Hove Albion is the most represented club in the top 100 (6 players), followed by Chelsea, Tottenham, Ajax and Eintracht Frankfurt (all with 4 players).
