Ankaragücü ultras show support for Palestine

May 7 – Fans of Turkey’s Ankaragücü expressed their support for Palestine in the military conflict with Israel by raising a huge banner at the Turkish Super Lig match against Alanyaspor.

‘Muslims will be united, oppressors will be destroyed’, the banner said.

After the match in Ankara which ended in 1:1 draw, Ankaragücü ultras from the Gecekondu faction shared the following message on social media.

“Children, women, innocents are being murdered by fucking Israel. We will not remain silent about this. We will shout for the innocent, for Free Palestine. We will fight together against Israel. Muslims will be united, oppressors will disappear. DAMN ISRAEL!”

The Palestinian militant group Hamas launched an unprecedented assault on Israel on  October 7, with hundreds of gunmen infiltrating communities near the Gaza Strip.

About 1,200 people were killed, and more than 250 were taken to Gaza as hostages, according to Israeli tallies.

More than 33,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed in air and artillery strikes carried out by the Israeli military in response, Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry says.

Negotiations for a proposed cease-fire in the Gaza Strip are on-going.
