AFC draws play-off round for final group stage slots and a shot at Asian Cup 2027 qualification

May 10 – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has matched up the six teams competing in the Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 Qualifiers Playoffs, seeking to earn one of the final three slots in the third round of qualifying.

Sri Lanka were drawn to play Cambodia, Timor-Leste will host Mongolia while tournament newcomers Brunei Darussalam will meet Macau.

Matches will be played in September with the three winners going into the third round groups.

That round will see 24 teams divided into 6 groups of 4 teams to play home-and-away with the winner of each group taking the remaining 6 slots at the 2027 Asian Cup.
