September 10 – SIGA will open its Women’s Leadership Forum tomorrow in Porto, Portugal, with the results of its survey into female representation in sports boardrooms.
The forum is returning to Europe having previously been hosted by Mastercard, in New York. SIGA said the new “landmark annual event will further extend the #SIGAWomen Agenda – which has been designed to foster cultural change, enhanced governance and gender equity in the boardrooms of all Sport Organisations”.
Speakers include Margarida Balseiro Lopes. Minister, Youth and Modernization, Portugese government and FC Porto president Andres Villas Boas. The event is hosted in Estádio do Dragão, home stadium of FC Porto.
Panel session titles include ‘How is the rise of women’s sport improving sports governance and changing the game for women and girls’. Panelists include Liga F president Beatriz Alvarez and Helena Pires, executive director Liga Portugal.
In a panel titled ‘Force multipliers: leveraging mentorship for gender equity and sustained success’, speakers include Michelle Evans, Senior Sports Partnerships Manager, EPIC Global Solutions, and Susana Feitor, President, Portuguese Sports Foundation.
The objective of the forum is to bring together leading voices and key stakeholders from across Sport to “address the most critical challenges, barriers and opportunities for the positive evolution of Sport”.
Closing out the day, SIGA Women’s new CEO Julie Gülsev Kassap will present the latest version of The SIGA Women Manifesto before SIGA presents its special recognition awards.
