September 25 – Match week 5 of the Premier League season saw West Ham United cement themselves as %capacity kings with a season-high score of 99.95%. Almost a full house watched as the Hammers were tamed by their London rivals Chelsea, with Blues star Nicholas Jackson netting twice to seal their 0-3 fate.
Julian Lopetegui’s side were joined by Liverpool in the elusive 99% club during their victory over Bournemouth on Saturday, as only 364 seats were left cold for the club’s fourth clean sheet of the season under Arne Slot.
The Reds find themselves within touching distance of Manchester City at the top of the table, with the champions staying on top thanks to a miraculous late goal to draw with 10-man Arsenal on home soil.
Elsewhere, Spurs achieved the highest attendance of the week as 61,246 fans watched club-record signing Dominic Solanke score his first goal for the club, with Postecoglou’s team going on to beat Brentford 3-1 in an important win for the club. As it stands, the win lifted Spurs into 10th place after a tough run left them without a league win since August.
The lowest attendance recorded on match week 5 of the Premier League was at Fulham’s Craven Cottage at just 25,172. That paired with an attendance of just 96.5% underlines the same issues faced by Fulham last season, whose attendance dropped as low as 92% of capacity.
That said, Craven Cottage is due to undergo a further series of development projects in an effort to boost attendance next season and improve the general match day experience for fans.
Despite Fulham continuing to struggle, Southampton retained their place as the worst %capacity scorers of the matchday, hovering around the 96% mark for the third time this season.
