Concacaf sets dates and draw schedule for 2026 group qualifiers

May 2 – Concacaf has laid out the pathway for nations to qualify for the 2026 World Cup to be hosted in their region. With US, Mexico and Canada qualified as hosts, Concacaf has three more qualification slots and two inter-continental play-off slots to fill.

Qualification is currently at the half way point in the Round 2 group stage with 30 nations divided into six groups.

The top two teams in each group will qualify for the Final group round that will be divided into three groups of four.

The winners of each group (matches to be played home and away in the September, October and November windows) will qualify directly for 2026. The two best runners-up will take part in the FIFA Play-off Tournament.

With nations having two game to play in the second group round in June, there is still a lot to play for with no nation having guaranteed a slot in the Final group qualifying.

Currently the leading nations in the groups are Honduras, Cuba, Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, Curacao, Haiti, Nicaragua, Panama, Guatemala and Jamaica.

The draw for the final round groups will be held on Thursday, June 12, two days before the 2025 Gold Cup kicks off.
