EA SPORTS partnership with MLS and Apple TV set to innovate fan engagement strategy

May 6 – EA SPORTS, the gaming powerhouse that has sold over 325 million copies of its FIFA/FC series worldwide since its 1993 inception, is revolutionising how fans engage with live soccer through an innovative new partnership with Major League Soccer (MLS) and Apple TV.

Beginning this May, mobile users of EA SPORTS FC Mobile (FCM) will be able to stream live MLS matches directly through the in-game FCM TV portal, with up to four matches available weekly via MLS Season Pass.

The groundbreaking feature kicks off with a rematch of the 2024 MLS Cup Final, pitting the still-winless defending champion Los Angeles Galaxy against the New York Red Bulls.

This integration represents the next evolution in EA SPORTS’ fan engagement strategy, offering players both passive and active experiences via the Football Center hub. Users can enjoy matchday-specific gameplay, showdown player exchanges, and real-time content integration tied to ongoing MLS events – all while earning in-game rewards based on their viewing minutes.

Lawrence Koh, VP of EA SPORTS FC Mobile, emphasised the significance of the partnership: “This reflects our investment in a fan-first future of football. Together with Apple TV and MLS, we’re merging play and viewership in ways never seen before.”

For Major League Soccer, this collaboration presents a golden opportunity to expand its digital global footprint while connecting with younger audiences who increasingly consume content via mobile devices.

“We’re reaching digitally native audiences around the world and building new relationships with fans,” said Camilo Durana, Executive VP at MLS, describing the partnership as a “groundbreaking” evolution in football consumption.

The marriage between gaming and live sports streaming signals a pivotal shift in how fans interact with the beautiful game, blurring the lines between virtual play and real-world action in unprecedented ways.
