May 12 – UEFA has placed fan experience and engagement at the heart of its preparations for UEFA Women’s EURO 2025, hosting a dedicated Fan Forum in Switzerland this week for supporter representatives from all 16 participating nations.
The forum brought together tournament organisers, host city officials, national associations, Football Supporters Europe (FSE), fan groups, and national team Fan Embassies. The initiative is part of UEFA’s efforts to ensure the tournament is inclusive, safe, and tailored to the matchday experience of fans travelling across Switzerland this summer.
Following a similar event held before UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany, the forum focused on practical planning for the July tournament. Key topics included travel logistics, stadium atmosphere, fan zones, and safety and sustainability measures. By offering insights and updates on preparations, the event allowed supporters to shape and prepare their own initiatives – such as fan marches – while building crucial lines of communication with decision-makers.
“We have said from the very beginning that Women’s EURO 2025 will be inclusive, family friendly and safe. Therefore, having pre-tournament dialogue with the fans is essential for us, as this tournament is a celebration with and for the fans in a welcoming environment,” said Doris Keller, UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 tournament director.
Supporters also heard from key tournament organisers about services and resources that will be available to them during the competition. The goal is to provide a memorable fan experience both inside and outside the stadiums, while strengthening the role of fans in the planning of international football tournaments.
“It’s been invaluable for Fans’ Embassies to hear directly from and speak to those whose decisions will impact supporters. Establishing these connections now will play a key role in making the experience smoother for fans following their teams in Switzerland,” added Jussi Hartikainen, FSE’s national teams and membership coordinator.
