May 21 – As the 2024-25 Premier League season edges towards its finale, fans continue to pack stadiums in record numbers. Matchweek 37 – the penultimate round – delivered the highest average stadium occupancy of the season, with clubs filling 98.73% of available seats across the 10 fixtures.
Four clubs broke into the 99% capacity bracket, led by West Ham United, whose 99.95% figure was the highest of the matchday. Brentford (99.34%), Arsenal (99.10%), and Leicester City (99.15%) joined them, with the Foxes hitting their best attendance numbers of the year as the King Power turned out in full force to bid farewell to club legend Jamie Vardy. The 38-year-old striker marked the occasion with a goal in his final home appearance after 13 years of service.
Crystal Palace posted the lowest attendance of the weekend, but with context: many supporters were at Wembley to witness their historic FA Cup triumph over Manchester City on Saturday. Despite a heavily rotated squad, the Eagles saw off Wolves 4-2 in a lively Selhurst Park performance.
Everton, meanwhile, recorded a surprisingly modest turnout for their emotional farewell to Goodison Park as the men’s team defeated Southampton 2-0. Iliman N’Diaye’s brace gave the grand old ground a fitting sendoff before the Toffees move into the newly christened Hill Dickinson Stadium for the 2025-26 season. Goodison’s legacy will continue, however — Everton Women will make it their permanent home starting next season.
With the title and relegation battles already settled, the Premier League heads into its final weekend with European places on the line. A six-way scrap for the remaining Champions League slots adds real stakes to what could have otherwise been a flat finale — and stadiums look set to stay full to the very end.
