June 9 – Davide Ancelotti has joined his father, Carlo Ancelotti, as an assistant coach for the five-time World Cup winners Brazil.
The 35-year-old has carved out a career alongside his father since 2015, serving as assistant coach at Napoli, Everton, Bayern Munich and, most recently, Real Madrid.
In a statement, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) described Davide’s appointment as “another step in our search for innovation and technical improvements”.
“His international experience and training methodologies will be fundamental for the players’ development and for building an even more competitive team.”
The Ancelottis are not the first father-son duo to feature in the technical staff of Brazil. Tite’s son, Matheus Bacchi, also formed a part of his backroom staff during his six-year reign.
Carlo Ancelotti took charge of Brazil for the first time in a goalless draw away to Ecuador on Thursday, a result which leaves the Seleção in fourth place in South American World Cup qualifying. Davide is expected to join the bench for Brazil’s next fixture on Tuesday when they host third-placed Paraguay.
Before transitioning to coaching, Davide Ancelotti initially pursued a playing career, featuring for AC Milan’s youth set-up and later Borgomanero, before retiring at 20 to focus on coaching. He holds a degree in sports science.
His coaching journey began in 2012 as a fitness coach at Paris Saint-Germain, followed by a similar role at Real Madrid between 2013 and 2015. He took up his first assistant manager post at Bayern Munich in 2016, continuing in the same capacity at his father’s subsequent clubs.
