June 11 – The Queens of Europe have found their throne. Arsenal Women, fresh off their UEFA Women’s Champions League triumph, are making the Emirates Stadium their permanent residence for the 2025/26 season – all 60,704 seats of it.
This isn’t just venue shuffling, it is history being written in real time.
Last season’s numbers tell the story with Arsenal’s women’s team averaging an attendance of 34,110 in the Barclays Women’s Super League matches. The crescendo? A jaw-dropping 56,748 fans packed in to watch Arsenal dismantle Tottenham 5-0.
The Emirates has been the Gunners’ part-time playground, but next season marks the full commitment. Every WSL home fixture will be staged at the cathedral of North London football, a marked difference to Meadow Park in Borehamwood (capacity 4,500) – 12 miles and a world away from this grandeur – though it will still host Champions League group games and cup ties.
Richard Garlick, Arsenal’s Managing Director, said: “Today’s announcement is another bold step forward. It’s an opportunity to create a special home for our team and allow more opportunities for our community and a new generation of supporters to watch the European champions.”
The business model shifts too – season tickets, and six-game packages included with walk-up sales. Last year’s 415,000 tickets sold represented a 20% jump – and that was playing mostly away from N5.
Clare Wheatley, director of Women’s Football, captures the essence: “Our players and staff know what it means to walk out in front of a packed Emirates Stadium. It brings a sense of scale and belonging to all of us. It fuels a relentless drive to win and is a crucial part of how we create the best conditions for our women’s team to succeed.”
Head coach Renée Slegers said: “Bringing every WSL match to the Emirates is another step for more supporters to be part of this special journey.”
The European women’s club champions aren’t just moving house. They’re claiming their rightful place.
