Renault drives R4 reboot with Monaco shirt deal

June 20 – AS Monaco have renewed their commercial tie-up with Renault for another season, with the French automaker set to push its nostalgic R4 electric reboot as part of the club’s 2025/26 Champions League campaign.

After parading the Renault 5 last year, the Ligue 1 side will now showcase the Renault 4 E-Tech which will be front and centre on Monaco’s shirts during European matches, and featured on the pocket of Ligue 1 kits.

The deal gives Renault valuable exposure as it launches the new model, which it aims to make its next poster child for eco-conscious mobility.

For Monaco, the agreement runs through 2026 and extends beyond shirt space. The Stade Louis-II will be plastered with Renault branding, the club gets a fleet of EVs, and there’ll be joint fan activations across France.

The value of the deal remains undisclosed.

It’s a commercial play dressed up as heritage, but for Renault, visibility in Europe’s top-tier competition is the real power source.

Arnaud Belloni, Global Marketing Director at Renault, said: “By associating Renault 4 E-Tech Electric with AS Monaco, we are promoting a popular French icon on the European stage alongside a legendary club. This partnership embodies our desire to combine heritage and modernity, performance and responsibility, with the momentum of a major name in football.”

Thibaut Chatelard, Marketing & Revenue Director at AS Monaco, said: “We are delighted to continue our collaboration with Renault, a global group that has supported us throughout this season, marked by the Club’s centenary. The extension of this partnership once again demonstrates the appeal of AS Monaco and the interest brands have in associating themselves with our Club. We look forward to starting the next season together and showcasing the Renault 4 E-Tech electric on the European stage and on all the pitches of the French Championship.”
The club are strongly linked with former France midfielder Paul Pogba, with only Saudi sides presenting any real opposition to his signing. The 32-year-old has served his 18-month ban for doping whilst playing for Juventus.
