October 3 – The South American Confederation, Conmebol, has launched the bidding process for media and sponsorship rights to its flagship club competitions, covering the 2027–2030 cycle.
Broadcasters and brands across South America are now invited to secure a stake in some of the continent’s most powerful sporting properties, including the Copa Libertadores, Copa Sudamericana, and Recopa Sudamericana.
The sales process, managed by IMG’s FC Diez Media, extends a partnership that began in 2017 and has been instrumental in reshaping how South American football is consumed worldwide.
The package offers rights to competitions that have received short thrift in the past, including the Libertadores Femenina, futsal, and beach soccer events, a clear sign of Conmebol’s desire to broaden its commercial footprint across multiple formats.
The Copa Libertadores remains the crown jewel in Conmebol competition infrastructure with its resonance far beyond the continent, which is essential in closing the perceived gap with UEFA competitions.
The new rights cycle could prove pivotal in shaping the finance and profile of South America’s football future.
