Sydney event to mark 100 days to go to Women’s Asian Cup kick off

November 19 – The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) will mark 100 days to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 with a public event in Sydney’s Martin Place on Friday, signalling the start of the final promotional push ahead of what is expected to be a record-breaking continental tournament.

The celebration will unveil the official match ball and feature appearances from senior tournament figures, including COO Sarah Walsh, Australia head coach Joe Montemurro and Philippines international Madison Ayson.

NSW Minister for Sport Steve Kamper and eight members of the pioneering 1975 Matildas are also set to attend, alongside grassroots representatives participating in the ‘Fearless Dreamers’ campaign.

They will be accompanied by a 2.4-metre installation shaped as ‘100’, filled with written ambitions from 100 young players selected from clubs across the country. The overall winner of the programme – designed to highlight youth engagement ahead of the competition – will be announced on the day.

The 2026 Women’s Asian Cup will run March 1-21 across three host cities – Perth, Gold Coast and Sydney – with the Matildas opening the tournament against the Philippines at Perth Stadium. Organisers expect the expanded competition, combined with increased commercial activation and strong domestic interest in women’s football, to deliver the largest audiences and matchday attendances in the event’s history.
