March 11 – The Cyprus Football Association (CFA) has signed an agreement with the Pyrga Community Council, granting the use of the community stadium for the needs of the Cypriot national teams.
The agreement was signed by CFA President Charis Loizides and Pyrga Community Council President Stavroulla Vasiliou. Also present on behalf of the CFA were Vice President and National Teams Committee Chairman Fotis Fotiou, Deputy Director General Andreas Morias, and Assistant Director of the National Teams Department Christodoulos Thoma.
Under the four-year deal, the CFA will upgrade the stadium’s facilities, including dressing rooms, a training room, public restrooms, and a medical room.
In turn, the Pyrga Community Council has committed to upgrading the stadium’s lighting and adjusting the pitch dimensions to FIFA specifications within the next six months.
The stadium will serve as a permanent training base for the national teams, and once renovations are complete, it will also be available to host friendly matches for the national youth sides.
The CFA highlighted the venue’s strategic location, noting that it sits at a central point on the island, making it easily accessible for players and coaching staff traveling from across Cyprus. Its proximity to Korno – where the CFA’s National Teams Sports Centre is set to be built – further strengthens its long-term importance as a complementary facility.
The CFA expressed its gratitude to the Pyrga Community Council for its cooperative spirit throughout negotiations, stating its confidence that the agreement will prove mutually beneficial.
