April 13 – The Concacaf W Qualifiers go to the final round of group matches this week with each of the six groups going down to the wire.
The qualifiers feature 29 Concacaf member associations playing in six groups with the six group winners going through to the Concacaf W Championship to join pre-qualified Canada and USA in the eight-team finals in November this year.
The finals will serve as Concacaf’s qualifier for both the Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 and the 2028 LA Summer Olympics and is the first of three major centralized tournaments in the Concacaf women’s national team calendar that will see the launch of the inaugural W Nations League, and a second edition of W Gold Cup.
In the group qualifiers each of the final rounds is a winner-takes all tie.
In Group A Mexico head Puerto Rico on goal difference going into the final game where they meet each other.
In Group B Jamaica, with an in-form Khadija Shaw, now fully restored to Jamaica’s national team, hammering in three goals in a 4-0 win over Antigua and taking her personal tally for Jamaica to 39 goals. Jamaica meet joint-second placed Guyana (level with Nicaragua) in their final match with the Guyanas needing a win to qualify.
In Group C, Costa Rica and Guatemala are joint top on 9 points and play each other in the final group game where the Costa Ricans have home advantage.
In Group D, Haiti lead the Dominican Republic by two points. They meet each other in the final game at the Stade Roger Zami in Guadeloupe.
Group E sees Panama with a home advantage over Cuba who they lead by two points going into the finals clash.
Group F has El Salvador edging Trinidad and Tobago by two points and with home advantage for the closing group fixture.
