Man Utd fan protest causes fixtures pile up as reds chase Champions League spot

May 6 – Manchester United face having to play four times in eight days after their postponed home Premier League match with Liverpool was  rearranged for Thursday May 13.

The decision means United must play two games in the space of 50 hours as their home game against Leicester has already been moved forward a day to Tuesday May 11.

Amid the fallout of the European Super League collapse, thousands of United supporters demonstrated against the Glazer family’s ownership last Sunday, forcing the showpiece fixture to be abandoned.

Six police officers were injured during the protests, which also saw around 200 fans break into the stadium. It was the first time in Premier League history that a game had to be called off because of fan protests.
