BK8 returns to European club sponsorship with five LaLiga club deals

August 17 – Online betting brand BK8 has secured five LaLiga club sponsorships for Asia for the new season which kicked off last weekend.

BK8 will become the official Asian Betting Partner of Valencia, Athletic Club de Bilbao, Villarreal CF, RCD Mallorca and Elche for the 2021-22 season.

Michael Gatt, MD for Europe at BK8, said: “These new deals are really exciting for BK8 and represent a huge marker for us as a brand in being able to begin to achieve some of our objectives in working closely with football related partnerships.

BK8 said that the deals were only the start of European-wide partnership plan fro the company.

“We are working with a number of football stakeholders across Europe at this moment in time, so we can continue on this positive trajectory and help us invest with not just clubs but also charities and the community who share our ambition to make a difference in football.

“This partnership with some of Spain’s elite football institutions puts us on the map in Europe and we look forward to a successful relationship with them all.”

BK8 will have a package of branding across the club’s digital and social media platforms in Asian markets as well as giving them player access for promotions and virtual perimeter advertising rights in the region.

Anil Murthy, Valencia CF president, said: “VCF is a global brand and Asia is an important market for us. We hope that with this agreement with BK8, our presence in Asia will continue to grow.”

The deal with the five LaLiga clubs marks a significant marketing comeback for BK8 who had a £5 million shirt sponsorship deal with Norwich City pulled after supporters objected.

Fans discovered an Instagram channel promoting services to Malaysian customers that promoted ‘sexy baccarat’ and suggestive images of hot dog swallowing contests.

Under the hashtag #hergametoo, fans complained that the soft porn images were offensive, degrading and against the club’s principles.
