May 19 – England’s Women’s Super League is rebranding with new names and visual identity as the women’s professional game continues its transition from FA control.
The Women’s Professional Leagues Limited (WPLL) will now be renamed as Women’s Super League Football (WSL Football).
The two leagues it administers will also see a name change for its second tier with the Barclays Women’s Championship becoming the Barclays Women’s Super League 2 from the 2025/26 season – bringing both league names under one Women’s Super League Football umbrella.
The leagues are also getting a new brand identity, developed with the creative agency Anomaly, “which includes living emblems, colour systems and league and company word marks which have been inspired by on-pitch movement and insight courtesy of EA Sports,” said the WSL.
Each league will have a unique but complimentary identity so they can be used together, designed to capture the power and athleticism of the players and reflect the distinct nature of women’s football.
A new WSL Football website will launch this summer, with the new look being implemented fully ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Ruth Hooper, CMO, WSL Football, said: “No one plays football like a female – it is our strength and the way players move is one element of what makes women’s football distinctive and special.
“As soon as this concept was brought to the table, we knew it was the right route, and we embraced it. It has taken months of work, and we have spoken to clubs, fans, players and partners who have all inputted during the process and been on this journey with us.”
