June 22 – The qualifiers for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026 kicked off Monday with India, hosts of the 2022 finals, putting 13 unanswered goals past Mongolia, while Iraq drew 0-0 with Timor-Leste in Group B, which is being hosted in Thailand.
The qualifiers will see six groups of four and two of six played in centralised locations.
The six group winners will qualify automatically for the 12-team 2026 finals.
Already qualified are Australia as hosts, China as winners of the 2022 Asian Cup, South Korea as runners-up and Japan who finished third in 2022.
Group B in Thailand has kicked off six days earlier than the other groups where action will begin on June 29. Group A has been relocated from Amman, Jordan, to Qatar, and rescheduled to take place from July 7 to 19.
Myanmar’s capital city Yangon will host Group C, which will kick off June 29 with Myanmar against Turkmenistan at the Thuwunna Stadium..
In Group D at the Stadium Sport Centre Kelapa Dua Tangerang in Indonesia’s Tangerang Regency, Pakistan will start against three-time champions and 2022 quarter-finalists Chinese Taipei.
The Viet Tri Stadium in Vietnam will stage Group E, with Guam opening and looking for a fifth finals appearance. They meet the United Arab Emirates.
In Group F Nepal will face Laos at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Uzbekistan’s capital city, Tashkent.
Group G will unfold at the National Sports Complex of Cambodia in Phnom Penh, with 2022 quarter-finalists Philippines kicking off against Saudi Arabia, who are participating in the qualifiers for the first time.
Group H, being played at the Republican Central Stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan, will open with Malaysia and Palestine. This clash will be followed by three-time champions North Korea facing the hosts.
Finally, in Group A has been relocated from Amman, Jordan, to Qatar, and rescheduled to take place from July 7 to 19.
