Liverpool victory parade car suspect faces further 24 charges

August 15 – Liverpool parade crash suspect Paul Doyle faces 24 new charges after a car ploughed into fans at the club’s Premier League victory parade.

A former Royal Marine, Doyle had previously been charged with seven offences after 134 people were injured when he allegedly drove his Ford Galaxy Titanium into crowds in Liverpool city centre as the club were celebrating their English title following the 2024-25 Premier League season.

Five of the victims included in the new charges were children aged between six months and 17 years old, the court heard. He will face a total of 31 charges.

During that hearing, the BBC reported, junior counsel Philip Astbury said it was the prosecution’s case that Mr Doyle “drove deliberately in that car at people amongst that crowd as they tried to leave the area.

“Six charges of assault reflect the most seriously injured of those who were struck by the vehicle. The first count of dangerous driving reflects the manner of driving before and up until the point he used his vehicle deliberately as a weapon to injure those individuals.”

Back in May, Doyle was arrested at the scene as emergency crews worked to rescue several people who were trapped under the car and dozens were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Doyle will appear at Liverpool Crown Court on September 4 for the rescheduled hearing. He is then scheduled to face a trial lasting three to four weeks on November 28.
