Bayern Munich build deeper South Korean links with Seoul office opening

September 26 – Perennial German champions Bayern Munich’ have taken a deeper step into South Korea with the opening of a new representative office in Seoul.

It is the club’s third office in Asia having opened an office in Bangkok, Thailand in 2022 and in Shanghai, China, in 2017. In 2017 Bayern also became the first German side to establish a permanent presence in New York.

The presence of South Korean national hero Kim Minjae in the Bayern team, has made the club a weekly talking point in households and sports shows across the country. Asia, has a massive, young fan base, that clubs are increasingly keen to cultivate.

The Seoul office, housed within the German-Korean Chamber of Industry and Commerce, will be led by Dong-Hoon Seo. Bayern already enjoys deep links with South Korea through partnerships with the Korea Football Association and a long-term relationship with Nexen Tire.

This move follows on the back of the partnership announced earlier in the month with Korean football club Jeju SK FC between Bayern and Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC) that offers a global platform for youth development. Under the deal, Jeju SK FC will share its youth development philosophy with Red & Gold Football, and its young players will have a chance to train in Europe and in the United States.

Red & Gold Football, in exchange, will provide Jeju SK FC with coaching expertise and training methods, with plans to introduce a proprietary scouting system to the Korean club.
