October 22 – Betano has expanded its Conmebol relationship, becoming a sponsor of the inaugural Liga de Naciones Femenina, the confederation’s new women’s national team competition that will double up as a qualifying route for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
The tournament – which will run from October 24 this year to June 9, 2026 — will feature nine South American national teams competing across 36 matches and nine rounds. The top two finishers will qualify directly for the World Cup, while third and fourth will move into the intercontinental play-offs.
The new format embodies the confederation’s latest effort to create more competitive match opportunities for women’s national teams in between major tournaments – a flaw in the national team calendar that the confederation has been under pressure to address.
Conmebol President Alejandro Domínguez said the initiative aims to close the gap in international match exposure.
“It will give players more opportunities to play international games, offer fans the chance to connect more with their national teams, and ultimately help inspire a new generation of female footballers across the continent,” he said.
The competition comes less than a year before the Copa América Femenina 2025 and is part of the region’s broader build-up to the Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.
Betano – the sports betting arm of Kaizen Gaming – continues to push into sports sponsorship in South America, which now covers several top-tier competitions through 2028, including both men’s and women’s Copa América tournaments.
Kaizen’s Chief Commercial Officer Julio Iglesias Hernando described the deal as part of the company’s long-term investment in South American football.
“We are excited to support a brand-new competition that will bring more attention to women’s football in South America,” said Hernando.
“It is an honour for us to have a strong, long-term relationship with Conmebol, spanning a range of top-tier competitions and contributing to the growth of the game that the continent lives for.”
