Udogie named as player allegedly threatened at gunpoint by football agent

November 6 – Tottenham’s Destiny Udogie has been named as the English Premier League footballer who was allegedly threatened at gunpoint by a football agent.

Police were called to the incident in north London during the evening of 6 September, with police confirming that it emerged the agent had also allegedly blackmailed and made threats against a friend of Udogie.

The agent was later detained on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence. He was later bailed.

The suspect has not yet been charged with any offence, and there is no suggestion that the person in question is the agent of the Tottenham player.

A Spurs spokesperson said: “We have been providing support for Destiny and his family since the incident and will continue to do so. Given this is a legal matter, we cannot comment any further.”

A spokesperson for the police also commented on the incident: “Officers spoke to the victim and, during the course of their investigation, it was also reported another man in his 20s had also allegedly been blackmailed and threatened by the same individual. No injuries were reported in either incident.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested on Monday 8 September on suspicion of possession of firearms with intent, blackmail and driving without a licence. He has been bailed while inquiries continue.”
