Dembele doubles up on 2025 awards as Bonmati makes it a FIFA Best hat trick

December 17 – Ousmane Dembele and Aitana Bonmati have won the FIFA Best Awards in Doha, Qatar.

On Tuesday, FIFA crowned their own best players of the year at a gala in the Qatari capital with Ballon d’Or winner Dembele adding the Best award to his name. Dembele beat Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe to the award. Spain’s Bonmati won the women’s award for a third consecutive time.

Earlier this year, Dembele led Paris Saint-Germain to their first-ever Champions League win when they defeated Inter Milan 5-0 in the competition’s final. PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma won the best male goalkeeper of the year.

Bonmati was pivotal to Barcelona’s treble success and she was an outstanding player at Euro 2025 for Spain, but her country ultimately had to settle for silver after losing on penalties against England in the final. On social media, she wrote: “Nothing makes me prouder than being recognised by players, coaches, and fans for the third time in a row.”

Luis Enrique and Sarina Wiegman prevailed in the categories best men’s and women’s coaches. Enrique succeeds Carlo Ancelotti.
