January 14 – England’s Wembley Stadium has renewed its partnership with National Express that sees direct coach services from more than 50 locations across the country transport fans to the stadium.
Designated the Official Coach Supplier to Wembley Stadium, the agreement covers all events at Wembley and will run for the next three years.
All ’Wembley Express’ services arrive straight at the official coach park just minutes from the stadium entrance and do not depart until after an event has finished.
John Boughton, commercial director for National Express, said: “Wembley Stadium hosts some of the biggest events in the country and fans should be able to enjoy every last minute of the match or gig, instead of stressing about traffic and the long drive back or even missing the last train home.
“Since joining forces with Wembley in 2007 we’ve taken hundreds of thousands of excited football fans and gig-goers directly to the stadium door and got them home safely, so we’re really excited to provide even more fans with stress-free and sustainable travel options for those momentous occasions.”
The coach service is a key element of Wembley’s match day transport plan, taking pressure off local travel congestion for major events, and reducing the event’s carbon footprint. No value was given for the partnership.
Mark Lynch, Stadium Director, for Wembley Stadium, said: “National Express has long been a trusted and valued partner, playing a vital role in supporting sustainable and accessible travel for the millions of fans who visit Wembley each year.
“This renewal reflects our shared commitment to delivering a world-class experience for visitors, while promoting greener transport options to and from the UK’s national stadium. We look forward to continuing our successful collaboration and building on the strong foundations of our partnership in the years ahead.”
