February 2 – Concacaf held its 41st Congress in Managua, Nicaragua, at the weekend. The gathering also recognised ten years of leadership under President and FIFA Vice President Victor Montagliani.
Presiding alongside General Secretary Philippe Moggio and members of the Concacaf Council, Montagliani’s tone was reflective but forward-looking. Montagliani credited Member Associations for reshaping Concacaf and strengthening its foundations, while reaffirming the Confederation’s commitment to raising standards across the region.
With the World Cup approaching and six Concacaf nations already qualified, Montagliani congratulated those teams and wished Jamaica and Suriname well as they prepare for the FIFA Play-Off Tournament in March.
“Over the past decade, we rebuilt Concacaf on stable foundations,” Montagliani said. “So today we have earned the right to think long term, invest with confidence, and aim higher than ever. As we step toward 2026, this is a moment to be proud, moment to enjoy and a moment to break through ceilings. Our continued success will come from staying united, leading through service, and protecting the integrity that makes progress possible.”
Member Associations approved Concacaf’s 2026 budget, addressed statutory matters, and received updates aligned with the Confederation’s strategic priorities. Elections were also held, with Lyndon Cooper of St. Lucia elected Vice President for the Caribbean region after running unopposed.
Looking ahead, Concacaf’s calendar remains packed, beginning with the fifth edition of the Concacaf Nations League starting post World Cup.
At the club level, the Concacaf Champions Cup begins February 3, while regional competitions across North America, Central America, and the Caribbean will once again offer pathways to continental and global stages. Women’s football also remains central, with the W Champions Cup Finals set for May in Pachuca, Mexico, and qualification campaigns continuing toward the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
