Palestine’s Rajoub to appeal ban as PFA questions speed of ‘absurd’ ban

August 28 – The head of the Palestinian Football Association, Jibril Rajoub, has rejected his one-year ban by FIFA and says he will appeal against what his federation described as a sanction that was “disproportionate, absurd, and lacking in evidence.”

Crisis hit Ghana now set to lose hosting of 2018 African Women Cup of Nations

August 28 – With its football administration still in crisis, local media have reported Ghana has been stripped of the right to host this year’s African Women Cup of Nations (AWCON) by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). But CAF insists the media has jumped the gun and that no firm decision has yet been reached.

Shot down in flames: FIFA hands Rajoub match ban over inflammatory Messi comments

August 24 – In a hard-hitting ruling that could well enflame tension in the region but will be viewed by others as a logical move, FIFA has handed outspoken Palestinian FA leader Jibril Rajoub a one-year match ban and fined him 20,000 Swiss francs for inflammatory remarks made against Lionel Messi.
