UAE’s Al Nasr forfeits ACL game as Wanderley judged to have gone too far

September 12 – Brazilian-born Santos Monteiro Junior Wanderley’s lust for international football travel seems to have caught up with him and his latest club, UAE’s Al Nasr, with the club being forced to forfeit their AFC Champions League quarter-final first-leg match against Qatar’s El Jaish.

Russians promise delivery of centrepiece St Petersburg stadium by year end

September 12 – The seemingly never-ending saga surrounding of the build of the Krestovsky football stadium, also known as the Zenit Arena, in St Petersburg, may at last be coming to a conclusion with Russia having given guarantees to FIFA that the stadium will be completed by the end of this year.

Krygyzstan became third federation to launch on Mycujoo video platform

September 12 – Kyrgyzstan became the third Asian federation to launch its Live Streaming Platform during a recent friendly match against the Philippines. This follows the launch of the video platform in Bhutan and Oman.

FIFA open formal probe into $80m paid out to Blatter, Valcke and Kattner

August 9 – FIFA’s ethics investigators have opened a formal investigation into the $80 million in pay rises and bonuses that former FIFA top brass Sepp Blatter, Jérôme Valcke and Markus Kattner awarded themselves over a five year period until they were suspended or fired by the governing body.

September 9 – European powerhouses Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have lost their respective appeals against a transfer ban imposed by FIFA for breaching regulations on the acquisition of non-Spanish minors under the age of 18 and are taking the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Hull sale collapses as rumours Chinese investors failed fit and proper persons test

August 9 – Chinese money doesn’t always get what it wants. The sale of Premier League club Hull City by Assem Allam (pictured) and his son Ehab to a consortium lead by multi-millionaire siblings Dai Yongge and Dai Xiu Li looks to have collapsed after it appears members of the consortium failed to pass the Premier League Owners’ and Directors test.

September 9 – Educating the educators has become a key initiative of the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) drive to improve the levels of play across the region. This week the confederation hosted its third Coach Education Panel in Kuala Lumpur since its formation last year.

September 8 – In a move that could have wide-ranging repercussions and cause a potentially hugely damaging split, the umbrella organisation that represents the Continent’s top leagues has angrily rejected UEFA’s reforms of the Champions League and Europa League.
