October 14 – FIFA has welcomed the World Anti Doping Agency (WADA) decision to abandon its appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against world football’s governing body for not punishing five Mexican players who tested positive for clenbuterol prior to the CONCACAF Gold Cup earlier this year.

Trinidad and Tobago footballers owed over TT$4 million

October 12 – Trinidad and Tobago’s Football Federation (TTFF) will pay more than TT$4 million (£2.4 million/€3 million) to 13 players who played in the 2006 World Cup as compensation following a dispute between the two parties over revenues from their participation in the tournament, which was held in Germany.

FIFA drop multi-million pound TV deal with Warner’s firm

September 9 – FIFA have terminated a multi-million pound TV deal for the 2014 World Cup after discovering the rights had been sublicensed to a company owned by Jack Warner, their former senior vice-president who resigned from all footballing activities after being charged in the recent bribery and corruption scandal.

Visa renews partnership deal with SUM

September 6 – Visa is extending its partnership with Soccer United Marketing (SUM) in a deal which will see them continue as the official payment services company of Major League Soccer (MLS), US Soccer and the Mexican national team’s US tour until 2014.
