Deloitte reveal record Premier League revenues but wage costs spiral

June 9 – Premier League revenues increased by £49 million ($80 million) to exceed £2 billion ($3.2 billion) in total during the 2009-10 season but are rising slower than total wage costs, which grew by £64 million ($105 million) to £1.4 billion ($2.3 billion), according to the latest report published by accountants Deloitte.

Liverpool optimistic despite revealing £20 million loss

May 6 – Liverpool’s managing director Ian Ayre insists that the club is “very optimistic” about its future despite losses of £20 million ($33 million) in the club’s accounts up to July 31 2010, when previous owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett were still in charge of the Premier League side.
