CAF grants $500K to each of its Russia 2018 teams to prepare for World Cup

December 1 – The African Football Confederation (CAF) has granted financial subsidies of $500,000 to each of its qualified countries to help prepare their teams for the Russia 2018 World Cup.

November 29 – Gambia’s authorities are on a collision course with FIFA after the country’s National Sports Council (NSC) refused to rescind its decision to suspend the executive committee of the national federation.

FIFA issues Gambia deadline after government suspends FA officials for misuse of funds

November 24 – The tiny west African state of Gambia is the latest country to fall foul of FIFA’s government interference rules and has been given an ultimatum of November 27 for the country’s National Sports Council (NSC) to reverse its decision to suspend the executive of the national FA.

November 24 –  The sub-regional confederation for Southern African FA’s (COSAFA) has  signed Mopani Copper Mines as the title sponsor of the 2017 COSAFA U-20 Championships to be played in Zambia from December 6-16.

CECAFA Cup draw goes ahead despite move of tournament date and nation withdrawals

November 17 – The draw for the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA)  Senior Challenge Cup was held on Thursday whilst the tournament, to be held in Kenya, has lost two of the original participants (Somalia and Sudan) and been put back until December 3-17.

November 3 – Despite being stripped of the hosting rights for the 2018 African Nations Championship (CHAN) due to the failure to deliver on new venues, Kenyan officials have expressed hope the country will be chosen to host the U20 World Cup 2019, claiming to have the support of CAF.
