LONDON 2012 have denied a newspaper story that Sebastian Coe (pictured) said “F*** ’em” after being asked about objections from Wales and Scotland to the idea of a British Olympic football team and said that they consulted lawyers.
AUGUST 23 – THE Prime Minister (pictured) has been accused of scoring a “spectacular own goal” after he said in Beijing today that he would try to persuade Scotland and Wales to back plans for a united British football tournament to take part in the 2012 Olympics.
A GROUP of Scotland-linked MPs have backed the idea of a united British football team competing at the 2012 London Olympics.
THE Scottish Government have claimed that FIFA should investigate claims from a Westminster Minister that they would back a united British football team for London 2012, a move that could jeopardise the participation of the four Home Countries in the 2010 World Cup.
AUGUST 26 – SCOTLAND manager George Burley (pictured) has added his voice to those saying they do not support a united British football team for London 2012, despite his countryman Gordon Brown stepping up attempts to force it through.

JULY 27 – A SENIOR member of the Football Association of Wales (FAW) has claimed that they have never been consulted about a united British football team for the 2012 Olympics.
PRIME MINISTER Gordon Brown (pictured) today claimed that if a British football competed at the 2012 London Olympics it would not jeopardise the independence of the Home Countries.
FIFA today gave the green light on for British football teams at the 2012 London Olympics, saying it would not have any effect on the individual status of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
THE Scottish and Welsh Governments have both said today that they remain fiercely opposed to the idea of a united British football team taking part in the London 2012 Olympics.
AUGUST 31 – TRIPLE gold medal winning cyclist Chris Hoy (pictured) said today that he hopes a compromise can be worked out so Scotland can take part in a united British football team at the 2012 Olympics.
JUNE 27 – NORTHERN IRELAND football hero David Healy (pictured) is to join a new group to advise the Province’s Government on maximising opportunities presented by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, it was announced today.
