St. Pauli suspend anthem after Nazi-related past uncovered

February 18 – Bundesliga side St. Pauli, one of Germany’s most politically active clubs, have decided to suspend the playing of a traditional anthem at their stadium after it was found to have a Nazi-related past.

Adana Demirspor board reject president’s resignation over Super Lig walk-off

February 13 – Adana Demirspor’s board of directors have turned down the resignation of club president Bedirhan Durak (pictured), who quit after the Turkish side walked off the pitch during their Super Lig clash against Galatasaray at the weekend, causing the game to be abandoned.

LaLiga calls out Real Madrid over claims of ‘biased refs’ ‘manipulating’ games

February 12 – LaLiga has stepped up its ongoing war with Real Madrid by lodging a formal complaint with the Disciplinary Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) in response to the club’s open letter condemning the current refereeing system as “completely discredited” and vulnerable to “manipulation and tampering”.

Guatemala to host inaugural Concacaf W Futsal Championship

February 12 – Guatemala will host the inaugural Concacaf W Futsal Championship from April 29 to May 4 at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City. The tournament will serve as the qualifier for the Women’s Futsal World Cup in the Philippines later this year.
