Europol links with Sportradar to take the war to match-fixers

June 5 – The battle against betting related match fixing is seeing a rapid uptake in stakeholders looking for ways to combine resource and intelligence to control what is probably the biggest threat to the sporting integrity of the game. The latest information sharing agreement is between the European Union’s law enforcement agency Europol, have linked up with Sportradar’s betting security division.

Medical chief D’Hooghe says he may quit FIFA

June 1 – FIFA executive committee member Michel D’Hooghe from Belgium has added his voice to continued European criticism of Sepp Blatter following his re-election last week. Speaking on Belgian television D’Hooghe said “it’s high time for change” in FIFA and questioned his own future within the organisation.

Nike ‘cooperating with authorities’ over Brazil bribery scandal

May 29 – Multinational US-based sportswear company Nike is reported to be the company at the centre of the bribery scandal over the Brazil shirt deal with the company claiming it is ‘cooperating with the authorities.’
Allegations over Nike’s 1996 contract with the Brazilian Football Federation (CBF) are long-standing, with major questions over the final destination of the money received.
