Blatter ‘happy’ to take turn in front of Swiss prosecutor over Platini back pay

September 2 – It was Sepp Blatter’s turn to face the music on Tuesday when he appeared in front of a Swiss prosecutor over the “disloyal payment”  of two million Swiss francs made to Michel Platini in 2011.

September 2 – This Friday the trial of Portuguese whistleblower Rui Pinto (pictured) will get underway in Portugal and his lawyer has revealed that Edward Snowden will be one of the 45 witnesses testifying in Pinto’s defence.

TTFA chair Hadad tells former boss Wallace to stop the lies and ‘do the right thing’

September 2 – The chair of the Trinidad and Tobago Normalisation Committee Robert Hadad has written to the former president of the TTFA William Wallace telling him he has “completely ignored the truth”, has conducted a campaign of “misinformation and disinformation”, and in his tone is “offensive” to the people of Trinidad.

September 1 – Despite calls from clubs, players and government to the ousted TTFA president William Wallace and his board to drop the legal complaint against FIFA in the Trinidad and Tobago courts, Wallace is refusing to back down and has written to confederation presidents and member associations with a plea for support.

August 28 – Manchester United captain Harry Maguire says he feared for his life and thought he might never play again after being arrested by plain clothes police officers following a much-publicised fracas on the Greek island of Mykonos.

MLS cancels mid-week matches to join protests against Jacob Blake shooting and US racism

August 27 – Major League Soccer cancelled five games that were due to be played on Wednesday (yesterday) joining a wave of boycotts in US sports, with NBA play-off games, baseball and tennis matches all called off in protest over the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Wisconsin on Sunday.

Maguire conviction annulled as appeal pushes retrial to higher Greek court

August 27 – Manchester United captain Harry Maguire will get a full retrial in a more senior Greek court after the appeal his lawyers lodged was accepted. The appeal nullifies Maguire’s suspended jail sentence of 21 months and 10 days handed down by a lower Greek court on Tuesday.

August 25 – The noose is beginning to tighten around the neck of outgoing Swiss attorney general Michael Lauber (pictured) which could potentially have significant consequences for FIFA president Gianni Infantino amid the ongoing saga of those infamous undocumented meetings between the pair.

Banned Afghan FA rapist Keram escapes capture as special forces raid his home

August 25 – The disgraced former president of the Afghanistan Football Federation, Keramuddin Keram (pictured), has escaped arrest in his home country after special forces failed to capture him. Keram is accused of rape and sexual abuse of members of the Afghani women’s national team.
