UEFA opens disciplinary cases following Europa League final and abuse of Taylor

June 5 – Despite protesting that he deserved more and that his Roma team were hard done by, José Mourinho was charged by UEFA on Friday after being filmed swearing at English referee Anthony Taylor in a stadium garage following the Europa League final.

Alderweireld strike wins Antwerp first Belgian league title in 64 years

June 5 – On a rollercoaster final day of the season, Antwerp won the Belgian league for the first time since 1957 thanks to a late strike by former Southampton and Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld to draw 2-2 at Racing Genk, enough to keep Union at bay, who ultimately lost 3-1 to Club Brugge.

June 2 – On the eve of the Women’s Champions League final between Barcelona and Wolfsburg, Amazon has signed a multi-year agreement to become a partner of UEFA Women’s Football in a deal that will see the company back various competitions including EURO 2025 – the first time it has sponsored a major international tournament – as well as the Women’s Champions League.
