March 11 – Saudi Arabia has stepped up to take on the bulk of Champions League group stage hosting next month in the AFC’s West zone. The UAE will also host a group while in the East zone Thailand will host three groups. India will also host a group.
February 25 – Shanghai SIPG have formally been awarded China’s fourth qualification slot for the 2021 Asian Champions League following the removal of Shandong Luneng from the competition.

October 9 – Qatar has stepped up in the Asian Football Confederation’s hour of need to host the four uncompleted AFC Champions League (East) groups and knockout rounds, starting November 18, in Doha. Their hosting will enable the completion of the AFC’s flagship club competition which had been identified as a priority by the confederation.
