August 22 – French competition authorities have cleared British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe to take over Ligue 1 club Nice OGC and become the first British club owner in the French league.

August 12 – Aston Villa have parted ways with businessman and former owner Tony Xia (pictured). The Chinese was removed as director and member of the board after he failed to pay his predecessor Randy Lerner a £30 million bonus. Instead Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris – who bought control from Xia – have stepped up to increase their share and fulfil the debt.
August 1 – He has become the most notorious ‘villain’ still at large in world football – if the US indictments of 2015 are to be taken a face value – Jack Warner has returned to the Trinidad and Tobago courts. This time he is not fighting his extradition to the US – still on-going – but battling the local FA for $2.3 million of loans he claims he provided but hasn’t been repaid.

May 30 – The European football business has never had it so good. Latest data from Deloittes puts the overall market value at a record €28.4 billion, driven primarily by a 6% rise in revenues across the increasingly dominant Big 5 European leagues and their ‘super’ clubs to €15.6 billion.
May 28 – New York Cosmos owner and billionaire businessman Rocco B. Commisso is poised to complete a takeover of Serie A club Fiorentina according to media reports.
May 24 – Dubbed the £170 million game, the Championship play off for a spot in the English Premier League to be played between Aston Villa and Derby County on Monday is the most lucrative one-off fixture in world football. And it could be worth as much £300 million.

May 15 – French club Olympique Lyonnais whose women’s team compete in the Champions League final this week and whose men’s team are set for a third placed Ligue1 finish, has reported a €36.1 million (19%) leap in revenue of the first nine months of the current financial year to €223.8 million.
May 15 – Genoa, Italy’s oldest professional football club which even has the word cricket in its official name, will be put up for sale, the Serie A outfit said in a statement.
May 14 – Palermo have been relegated to Serie C by the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) because of financial irregularities, a decision that crushes their hopes of securing promotion to Italy’s top division.
