January 5 – Another Premier League club has reported strong 2016-17 profits, as a consequence largely of the league’s new TV deal. Everton have clocked up a £30.6 million post-tax profit on turnover of £171.3 million, almost £50 million more than the previous highest recorded.
January 4 – Runaway English Premier League leaders Manchester City have more financial clout than any other club in world football, according to a new study commissioned by global sports event organisers Soccerex.

January 3 – It looks like Premier League champions Chelsea have their former Brazilian star Oscar – and by extension China – largely to thank for turning a profit in their latest financial year.
January 3 – Everton CEO Robert Elstone has confirmed the costs of the club’s proposed new stadium at Bramley Moore Dock have “escalated significantly”. Target date for opening of the new 50-55,000 capacity stadium is the 2022-23 season.

December 27 – Brighton and Hove Albion, the south-coast club making a decent fist of its return to the English top flight after 34 years, has spelt out the cost of last season’s promotion charge.
December 12 – Inter Milan have launched a bond issue to raise €300 million to satisfy a loan taken out by former majority owner, Indonesian Erick Thohir. The bond will mature in 2022.

November 23 – Hull City have posted a bumper pre-tax profit of £35.7 million for the year to end-June 2017 – a period coinciding with the club’s brief return to the Premier League.
November 21 – Atletico Madrid’s new billionaire Israeli shareholder Idan Ofer has has said his €50 million investment in the club is for business reasons and not his love of the game or Atletico.

November 9 – Manchester City, the Abu Dhabi-owned club whose multi-talented squad under Pep Guardiola already look like waltzing off with this season’s Premier League title, have reported a minuscule pre-tax profit of just £104,000 for 2016-17.
October 17 – Controversial Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley (pictured) has put the Premier League club up for sale after a decade-long reign in charge of the iconic English team whose 52,000 capacity stadium is close to full most weeks courtesy of a fanatical fan base.
