October 27 – Argentina and Uruguay have reaffirmed their interest in co-hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will mark the tournament’s 100-year anniversary.

Argentinian President Mauricio Macri and his Uruguayan counterpart Tabare Vazquez made the announcement after bilateral talks covering a wide-range of subjects.

“We reiterate that we will work together, aspiring to organise the 2030 World Cup,” Macri said.

Uruguay won the first World Cup on home soil and is seen as a natural choice for the centenary event, with north America expected to host the 2026 tournament, either by the United States alone, or in a bid with Mexico and/or Canada.
