November 1 – Manchester United could never be accused of being asleep at the wheel when it comes to signing up new sponsor partners, but should they be tempted to doze off they have a new sponsor in China’s mattress and pillow brand Mlily who can make it a comfortable experience.
Mlily has become Man Utd’s first Official Mattress and Pillow Partner. No value has been put on the global partnership but it is likely to be an eye-opener due to its long term and a wale-up call to other clubs looking for new sponsor categories and deal extensions.
“The five-year deal will see Mlily support United in helping the sleep and recovery of players,” said a club press release.
Mlily mattresses are to be installed at Aon Training Complex in the existing sleeping pods.
James Ni, founder of Mlily, said: “Our experience along with our commitment to producing high quality mattresses and pillows has resulted in stress free sleep and healthier lives for customers. These results are now available to Manchester United’s players and will find a wider audience due to our global partnership.” Perhaps the stress-free part of this will communicate to increasingly highly strung manager Jose Mourinho as he battles to make a mark and fulfill the dreams of fans.
Mlily is a world leader in producing memory foam mattresses. Perhaps the ‘memory’ experience will help the club to remember how to win trophies. In recent years it has been caught napping as it missed out on the big league prizes.
