Liverpool find Facebook friends as Man Utd notch 100K+ on Instagram

November 7 – Liverpool’s re-emergence as title chasing force this season is having a stimulating effect on its social media and Facebook likes in particular.

While Man Utd dominate across Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, topping the weekly gains tables on each platform in the week ending October 30, Liverpool, with 28,280, acquired more new Facebook likes than Chelsea and Arsenal, both of whom are above Liverpool in the overall table.

In contrast Liverpool were only in fifth place in the weekly Instagram table, with 28,700 new followers. Arsenal, in second, had 47,680 new followers.

Arsenal were the only team competing with Man Utd in the weekly Twitter growth chart, with 42,700 new followers compared to Man Utd’s 47,200 new followers.

Instagram growth is the highest of the three social media platforms with Man Utd with over 105,000 counting for more than a third of the total 299,000 new followers across the Premier League. The next four clubs: Arsenal, Chelsea, ManCity and Liverpool  account for 150,000 of the remaining 195,000. This leaves a surprisingly low 45,000 spread amongst the other 15 clubs.

In Facebook, Man Utd with 60,500 new followers accounted for nearly a third of the league total 209,000, with the same four clubs as above accounting for nearly another 100,000 Facebook likes. This left 49,000 spread between the remaining 15 clubs.
