Mourinho loses bottle and sees red for second time this season

November 28 – Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho, the self-styled Special One, prides himself on setting records. But his latest “achievement” will hardly go down as one of his most admirable.

Mourinho became the first person in England’s Premier league – player or coach – to be sent off twice this season during United’s 1-1 draw at home to West Ham United on Sunday.

Mourinho is gradually turning into the Angry One as his expensively-assembled team fails to live up to expectations and is now 11 points off the pace.

His latest sending to the stands was for kicking a water bottle in frustration after Paul Pogba was booked for diving and will now be suspended.

More importantly it is doubtful whether the United hierarchy, who pride themselves on the club’s global image and reputation, will take kindly to such antics.

Last month, Mourinho was fined £50,000 after comments about the referee before United’s match with arch-rivals Liverpool. Then came his rant against Burnley, after United had been denied a penalty, when he was dismissed and given a one-match touchline ban. Now this.

Mourinho insists his team are the most unlucky in the top flight yet many more displays of petulance will only increase the pressure on the Portuguese, so desperate to prove a point and restore United to past glories after his disappointing second spell at former club Chelsea.
